I'm Old

In teen years I'm 184. Earlier this week I had the difficult realization that to those sweet, leggy young tweens, I'm practically middle aged. And it's not just the two junior volunteers at Kids Club who called me "old." In what I hope is just the beginning of growing our family, I am confronted with the reality that I'm nearing the end of my child-bearing years. The prime years are probably already gone and depending on how long it takes us to get pregnant again and how many rugrats we end up with, I might have a doctor who considers me an old mom. I'll probably have to get my uterus a membership to AARP.
I imagine the teenagers at the gym calling me "that lady" in their whispered conversations at the mirror. Lady. Not that I'm not a lady, but man, that makes me feel old. They might as well call me "ma'am," which has totally happened before.

  1. You aren't 35, so your uterus shouldn't be getting AARP magazine quite yet. ;-) Looks like you have nearly a decade before then. You're right though, think about how old and mature we thought people our age were when we were their age. HA! Little do they know. We're young and somewhat dumb still, at least in the eyes of people twice our age.

  3. You're not almost done with your child bearing years! You're in your prime girl! :-) I'm praying for a sibling for Addy! But I do know what you mean. Can't believe some teens called you old... craziness!
P.S. I'm working through that book you sent. I promise I'll send it back, I'm just kind of a slow reader, especially with "serious material"

  4. Yes! I KNOW!!!! Ches and I call it the geri-ute (geriatric uterus). A woman's uterus is considered geriatric at age 30. I have one. You don't yet, but you soon will. Reality bites. So sad that I feel my biological clock ticking and I still FEEL 18. I need to calm down. Lots of women are having babies at 40. Just wanted to say that I feel you.
