We decided to cloth diaper our little Adalie. I had never even thought about it until a few people I know had kids in the past few years and peaked my interest. I was quickly overwhelmed. QUICKLY. I thought, how do people ever cloth diaper when everyone says their type (and there are several types of diapering systems) is the best and all others are inferior. So I emailed a person who was all about pocket diapers. And I went to visit the wife of a resident Pete was working with and she had something entirely different to say. Both people were really knowledgeable and I appreciated the chance to see the diapers in person. And while we ended up going with pocket diapers, I would try All-In-One's or Hybrids in a flash. It's just a bit pricey to just try stuff out, so I scout ebay for used stuff, which is way less off-putting than it was before we had Adalie.
I know a lot of people think we're crazy (including a lot of family members and friends), but I LOVE cloth diapering. We do a load of laundry almost everyday (but could buy more diapers and string it out to 2 or 3 days), but I love that my baby's skin is touched by soft fabric instead of chemically engineered plastic and absorbent gel. I love that the diapers are adorable and make her butt so big and padded you just have to give it a squeeze or a pat. They aren't for everyone, but I don't regret doing cloth for a moment, and I shamelessly try to encourage others to give it a shot. It's WAY easier than people think it is and it works great for us.
