Community.

Living in community is so important. It is very easy for me to get so wrapped up in my own life that I feel like I don't have time to live in community, but my heart desires it so much. That is why I love my small group, and my bible study, and going to work. I love being with other people. I love having people to lean on, and being someone that others lean on. I love that sharing a burden makes it feel less a burden. I like knowing that others are praying for me, or my family, or my friends. I love thinking that I can be part of a large petition to God to protect a little girl, to hold the heart of a dear friend, to work in the life of someone who doesn't believe in Him yet.

I was thinking this today, and thinking about how many wonderful people are in my life. I am so excited to be part of the life of my friends who are adopting a child from Ethiopia. I'm inspired by my friends who exhibit spiritual disciplines that I need to work on desperately. My heart breaks for my friend whose sister she longs to protect from the destructive ways of their mother. I love sharing their homes, eating meals with them, crying when they cry, laughing when they laugh. They are my family.

My heart longs for community, God has designed it to be so. I'm hoping to genuinely be in other's lives.
