On my mind.

Things I've been thinking about lately:

Training for the marathon is hard.
One of my short term motivations is to lose some weight before we go to Florida for a week. I hate to admit that, but struggle a lot with the way I look. I remember what it was like to be athletic and thin in high school and wish for that back to some degree. I also just wish I could be more accepting of myself.
I want to run more, but I am really good at making excuses. Went for a run this week, despite my cold, so that was good. I have a really busy week at work this week, and it's going to be hard not to make excuses.

Children.
Having Adalie has been the most amazing thing ever. I'm in awe of how our lives have changed, how we wanted this, but really had NOT IDEA what we were getting ourselves into. I wouldn't change it for anything. So how many do we want? Do we want lots of kids, just a pair? Will we be able to have more kids? What will life be like with a toddler and a baby? Will we be able to afford daycare for 2 kids?

Faith.
Can you be steadfast in your faith and open minded to people with different views? Where is the line between tolerance/acceptance and not doing your duty to share the gospel with others? I'm constantly waiting for "the right time" before speaking to people openly about my faith. I'm always shy about saying anything that might be perceived as judgmental.

Mormons.
They are all over the web. These ladies are bloggers, and crafters, and generally, pretty great. I admire their spirit's, their seeming ability to do it all. I hope whatever my future looks like as a mom, that I can do it faithfully, joyfully, and while properly submitting to Pete's guidance.

Submission.
Boy, what a loaded topic. It's very frowned upon in our modern society to even use the word submission. But I fully believe the Bible tells women to submit to their husbands. No need to get into the whole thing here, but I do think it is a duty both wives and their husbands have to each other. I've read some really interesting stuff lately and hope to exhibit this despite it being contrary to modern acceptance.

Titanic
I'm watching Titanic right now. The boat is sinking. I do hope you've seen it and I didn't just spoil it for you. They are loading 1st class passengers right now. People definitely died on that boat because they didn't have enough wealth to be found worthy of saving. I would love to say we've come a long way since then. I don't believe it for a second. I read a disgusting article recently. I thought hard about posting a link to it, but then I decided I would go ahead and do it, but found this instead. Turns out with enough outrage you can get an article written about a 3-year-old boy with down syndrome removed. It was awful. And worse than that were the comments. Comments about the worthlessness of a boy. Sure, it was probably all stemming from hate for his mother, but I don't care whose child he is. We all deserve the same, which is death to be sure, but as we're all here, why do we think that the person next to us, the person with less money, less education, less innate ability, is any less worthy of human respect?

Babbling.
I'm babbling. I'm done.

  1. I'm a bad blog follower. But I wanted you to know that I just got caught up. And thanks for fixing that typo for me. :)

  2. I love hearing your thoughts. Also, I took a Bible study last fall on marriage, which had a lot to do with submission and how God designed women to be their husband's helpmate. I could try to get you the workbook material if you're interested. Miss you! Good luck with the running!

  3. Hi Ashley... I completely agree with the submission piece. Would love to hear more of your thoughts. A really great read if you haven't already picked it up is "The Politically Incorrect Wife" by Nancy Cobb and Connie Grigsby. It's biblically based and has a study guide that you may follow. Great for small groups! Plus Nancy is from Omaha, NE:)
