Pass the Pepto.

Recently my bible study read the first bit of Philippians 4. What stuck out to me, amidst all that Paul crams into those few sentences - do not be anxious about anything. Yikes! Talk about speaking right to my heart!

I'm all worked up about Pete starting residency, and how things are going to work with Adalie going to daycare and me bearing the brunt of all household chores (that's how I foresee things) after having Pete home for the past few months and doing most everything house related.

I'm nervous it will make us argue more. Did you catch that? I'm anxious that we might argue more. Ridiculous. Anxiety over future arguments.

Goal for the week - focus on the beautiful, loving family and friends I have and quit worrying about a season in life that might be a bit tough. Surely I'm made of hardy enough stock to survive residency. Afterall, I won't be the first, and certainly not the last.

  1. Ash you can most certainly handle it! Matt and I have found this year that attitude is everything. You and Pete should make a commitment at the beginning of EACH month to "make it a good month" and focus on all the great things in your life, especially Adalie and each other. That is what has helped Matt and I. And letting go of making everything perfect (ala household chores, cooking etc). If you ever want to talk, give me a call. Not that I'm an expert, but I can sympathize :-)

  2. Ash, so glad you commented. I thought of you a lot after I wrote this. I know this anxiety is out of control, and that my attitude can change the outcome, but I'm afraid I won't have a good attitude! It's so silly, but true. I'll most certainly be calling you. :)

  3. First let me start with. Word. I totally feel it. Second, of course we will all be here to support you. But more importantly, HE will. I took my lunch break and headed over to veritas open prayer time at the union. Wouldn't you know--they had an entire devotional from John Piper about how God promises to carry our loads. I'll bring it to you Sunday. You can make it!!

  4. Right on friend! Isn't it almost laughable how we can waste so much energy on something that hasn't even happened yet....and may not?!!!
